BCS SESSION: Beer & the Bar - A History of Beer Cocktails

  • Bartender's Circle Summit 600 Pine Street - Floor 3 Seattle, WA, 98101 United States (map)

Beer cocktails have been around for centuries and they're better than ever.

From colonial-era flips and warming punches to modern craft creations built on IPAs and malty ales, beer has always had a place behind the bar. In this hands-on class, you'll taste a range of beer styles and explore how hops, malt, and carbonation can transform a cocktail — ending with a live demonstration of a hot flip made with a red hot poker.

Why You Should Attend

  • Trace the centuries-long history of beer cocktails, from vintage punches and flips to contemporary craft techniques

  • Discover how different beer styles -- from malty ales to bitter IPAs -- function as cocktail ingredients

  • Watch a live demonstration of a traditional hot flip, made the old-fashioned way with a red hot poker
